The Women's Self Help Group (SHG) Avarampoo in Nadukuppam, comprising 20 members, has taken the responsibility for the development of Nadukuppam Primary School. In March 2006 Avarampoo started working with PBRC to improve the situation at the school. So far they have built a fence to protect the area, a water storage tank and restored 8 toilets to functioning order. All the work was organized by members of Avarampoo. Further work has begun to renovate and beautify the school buildings and compound through activities such as painting the buildings, adding educational pictures of the environment, planting a piece of TDEF forest and a medicinal and vegetable garden, and building a sports ground.
