Eco Education Manual
Green learning – A Guide to Eco-conscious Education
Eco Education Manual: Fostering Sustainable Learning Across India
Based on over 30 years of experience in environmental education in rural Tamil Nadu schools, the Eco Education Manual serves as a practical guide to fostering eco-conscious learning. Developed for educators, it includes 10 thematic manuals covering climate change, forests, biodiversity, water, waste, nutrition, health and hygiene, sanitation, and energy. Each topic is designed to connect students with nature, promote sustainable practices, and inspire environmental stewardship.
In collaboration with Kaivalya Education Foundation (KEF) and TATA Communications, these manuals were produced as part of a collective effort to bring high-quality, impactful eco-education resources to schools. This joint initiative supports schools across India in embedding environmental values into everyday learning, empowering the next generation to care for their communities and the planet.
Scalability and Adaptability
While rooted in the rural villages of India, the Eco Education Manual has been designed to remain flexible and adaptable. Educators across the country can integrate these resources into diverse cultural, linguistic, and ecological contexts. Whether applied in rural schools, urban classrooms, or community learning spaces, the manual provides a practical framework that can be tailored to local realities—making it a powerful tool for fostering sustainability education nationwide.
